#4 - How Glyphosate (Roundup) is Causing Dementia

Glyphosate, the active ingredient in herbicide “Roundup” has now conclusively been found to cause death of brain cells.  Unfortunately, glyphosate is now in most air, water and food.

But, you can reduce your exposure.  More on that in a minute.

Glyphosate was promoted as being “safe as table salt” for years.  With big money comes huge lies!  So it has been used with wild abandon as a weed killer and a desiccant (to dry wheat and hay).  More than 15 billion pounds of this poison have now been spread and sprayed onto the soil where we grow our food.  It would be horrible for that much of a poison this dangerous had been made and disposed of in toxic waste dumps.  But where would one find a toxic dump to hold that much poison?  How much worse that it has been dumped on farm land.

New research has recently been published in the Journal Neurotoxicology and Teratology supports the now rather obvious connection between glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup herbicide, and neurodegenerative conditions.  While this particular study related the glyphosate damage primarily to Parkinson's Disease, dead and damaged brain cells may absolutely contribute to dementia / Alzheimer's.

Roundup is used commercially in virtually all non-organic vegetables.  It is poured onto the soil where they are grown, three to twelve times per year, year after year after year.

Roundup is sprayed on most hay and alfalfa that will be fed to cows and on  fields where corn is grown.  These poisons are then eaten by the cows, pigs, chicken and turkeys, where they are concentrated about 50 fold into the meat.  Glyphosate similarly gets into commercial non-organic eggs, milk, butter, yogurt and cheese also.

Plenty of roundup is in sugar, potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce, beets, spinach, broccoli, asparagus and all the rest.

On top of simply being poisonous, there is a second but less obvious way Glyphosate damages the brain.

Because the brain is the most important part of the body, it is the one best protected.  For instance, it is the only part that it encased in solid bone.  Not even the spinal cord, heart or lungs have this level of protection.

It is also protected in another microscopic way:  There is a barrier between the blood and brain that is very restrictive regarding what it will let in.  Because of this barrier, poisons from food, industry or the environment may get into the body and into the blood.  But getting into the brain is far more difficult.

But . . . Glyphosate breaks down this barrier so poisons can easily get through, poisons like the mercury and aluminum from flu shots or the aspartame from soda.  Yes, these toxins work together: Each augments the dangers posed by the others.

What should we do collectively about this ever-increasing danger?

We should make a lot of noise and demand that the lawmakers protect US instead of the industries that bribe them with lobbying money.  We should also vote with our dollars.  Purchase non-toxic foods and they will (to that degree) quit growing the toxic stuff.

To protect you and your family, buy organic.  Now I tried to follow that sentence with a list of the foods with the highest concentrations of Glyphosate.  But this is tough because it is in wheat, corn, sugar, beef, chicken, pork, eggs, milk, butter, most all vegetables, soy and farmed fish to name a few.  The list of foods without Glyphosate would be much shorter.

Therefore, if you can afford to do so, buy organic.  I know it is easy to want to save money at the check stand.  But what if you, as a result of buying toxic food, are spending fifty times that much at the pharmacy or a thousand times as much at a long term memory care facility?

I hope you are now seeing the basic concept of the articles in this series:  You cannot STARVE THE BRAIN (of oxygen, cholesterol and other vital substances) or POISON THE BRAIN without dementia /Alzheimer's as a consequence.

Be sure and Like this Page!  Share this with with friends and loved ones.

By the way, Alzheimer's and dementia care centers and their workers provide a very valuable service.  But far better to avoid dementia as one's first choice.

Love to hear your thoughts and comments.  Don't forget to share this with others. : )

Thanks for being here.
